Recently, Apple updated its Apple Pay and allowed users to authenticate through their iPhone. It means you can use your iPhone’s easy and quick feature, Touch ID, or Face ID to process and complete your purchase on your Mac mini, Mac Pro, and older Mac iMac models. Users can process their purchases with comprehensive security.
This recent update is the newest feature added to Continuity. Moreover, Apple’s comprehensive approach to integrating its more than two devices for simplifying everyday tasks. Besides, users can also use their Apple Watch to authorize their purchases.
Apple Pay has made shopping highly effortless in physical stores and retail shops. Users follow a simple process method for making payments contactless. Once users enter the details of their payment cards, they need to double click on the home or power button. It will bring their default card on the screen, allowing them to make payments.
Users’ purchases will be authenticated at the checkout when they keep their smartphone holding near the retailer’s card reader compatible with Apple Pay. If users want to go online shopping, they can find the Apple Pay button on apps and websites.
It allows them to authorize their payment through Touch ID or Face ID. Most recently launched iPad models are packed with these biometric technologies to ease logging in, unlocking, and processing payments without entering a password.
If you are shopping online within an app or using the Safari browser, then you can use your Mac to checkout easily through Touch ID. However, the update is only available when using the latest released M1 iMac or the MacBook device. These devices are equipped with the tech giant’s first external keyboard with a fingerprint reader on its Touch ID.
All you need to do is simply touch the screen that will begin authenticating purchases and logins with auto-fill details of your payment card. Also, it will begin authenticating things with Apple Pay when processing on an app or website. For other Mac devices, users need to enter a password unless they use the new feature of Apple Pay. If you use your iPhone with a Touch ID or Face ID hardware, you can authenticate your purchases even though you check out on your Mac devices.
How To Use Your iPhone To Pay On A Mac
An iPhone with Face ID or Touch ID can authorize you to use Apple Pay on your Mac. Of course, you will be required to enter your billing details like address, an associated name with your payment method, and its security code and expiration date once before using it.
After that, when you use it every time, you will need to either touch the home button to glance at your iPhone to process the payment on your Mac. Besides, you can also use your Apple Watch to process your payments through Apple Pay on your Mac.
When you use Apple Pay to make payments after purchasing something, it prevents you from credit card or online financial frauds. It is only because you don’t need to share your payment details with the retailers or sellers.
It means Apple Pay is much safer than your credit cards for both online shopping and retail stores. To use Apple Watch or iPhone to pay on your Mac, you have to add at least one payment card. Plus, you have to sign in using your same Apple ID on each device. Apart from these, you should enable Bluetooth on your device, and the app or website you want to use must have an Apple Pay option.
After that, you can click on the payment button to authenticate your iPhone with the Face ID feature. Users can proceed with the overall process by double-tapping on the sleep button while looking at their phones.
