Microsoft Surface Laptop 4 – Starting Price $999

The high-tech laptop has been introduced with additional enhanced features and more Ryzen CPU options. Several gadget experts call it the same device with modern internals and further Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) options.

The new Surface laptop unveiled by Microsoft and designated as Microsoft Surface Laptop 4 hasn’t upgraded its design, and neither has it altered its connectivity. However, that will not be a deal-breaker for people who prefer to buy and need a standard Windows Laptop. Microsoft has enhanced the internal tech in the new iteration. With the introduction of the Ryzen Pro 400 Series and 11th generation Tiger Lake-U mobile processors from Intel, it is expected that the laptop will offer upgraded performance optimization and improved battery life.

Microsoft has recently unveiled the fourth iteration in the Surface Laptop series and has adhered to its tradition of upgrading what is existing rather than altering the whole design of the product. The Surface Laptop with the touch screen is the most primitive laptop design model from Microsoft; the Surface Laptop 4 does not look much different from the Surface Laptop 3 (which was released worldwide last year) in appearance and design. Furthermore, both the 13.5 inches and 15-inches designs look almost similar to the preceding models.

Opting for the Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) route will benefit the users with a $100-$300 price. Still, if the users know about Intel processors, they can choose between two processor options in the 13.5 version. The 13.5-inch version of the Microsoft Surface Laptop 4 can have either an Intel Core i5 or i7, but the 15-inch version of the laptop only comes with an i7 Intel Core processor.

Microsoft has shared that the processor enhancements make the laptop provide seven times better performance than Surface Laptop 3. However, it is imperative to understand the caveat that the laptop is, by any degree, not high-tech enough to run high-definition games like Cyberpunk 2077, but it is capable enough to run some other games like Valorant, Overwatch, or Dota 2, even if we are speaking about 1080p quality with 60-80 frames per second clarity emphasizing medium to high-quality details.

The battery life is also higher in the 13.5-inch model and offers 19 hours of support, while the 15-inch model reduces its battery-driven capacity to 17 hours. The laptop with Intel processors has been opinionated to run for 16-17 hours on battery life, respectively. It also needs to be added that Microsoft is also researching and building a custom ARM-based chip, which has been pitched to provide a further enhanced battery life.

The other features of Microsoft Surface Laptop 4 exhibits a similar 3:2 PixelSense finger-touch screen display and a familiar 720p webcam (it also includes support for Windows Hello Authentication), a headphone port, a USB-A port, a USB-C port, Surface Dock, and Microsoft’s very own Surface Connect port for charging purposes.

One of the exciting facets of the laptop is that it enables a user to alter its M.2 SSD, which is a rare feature found in any computer.

Microsoft has started shipping the laptops in countries such as Japan, Canada, and the US; if you had already pre-ordered the laptop before Thursday, you are also eligible for a free pair of Surface Earbuds.

The 13.5 inch model of Microsoft Surface Laptop 4 has been highly recommended by several websites as it is supported by Ryzen 5 4860U, 256 GB storage, and 8GB RAM. The price of the 13.5 inch model of Microsoft Surface Laptop 4 is also lower than the 15-inch version and comes at around $999. On the other hand, the 15-inch version is slightly expensive and comes at approximately $1,299 with the same 256 storage capacity and 8 GB RAM, but it is supported by Ryzen 7 4980U. You can upgrade the specifications of the laptop to up to 16 GB Random Access Memory and 512 GB of memory, but a user is liable to pay $1,699 for the high specifications.

The Surface Laptop series is highly rated among the users, and if you are willing to buy, it would be wise to go for the 13.5-inch version because apart from being a few inches shorter, it has everything you need from a standard laptop, and it also comes at a low cost.
