The veteran actress Michelle Williams will star in the film “Fever” based on the life of Peggy Lee, which will be directed by Todd Haynes. The star of the critically acclaimed musical film “Walk the Line,” Reese Witherspoon, will be producing the film.
“Fever” will be based on the life of the legendary singer of American origin “Peggy Lee.”
According to a report published by the ever-reliable Hollywood Reporter, it has been confirmed that Michelle Williams has signed a contract, which would see her play the role of Peggy Carter in the biopic film titled “Fever.”
The film will be a directorial venture of Todd Haynes. Marc Platt, who is known for overseeing the development of two “Legally Blonde” films (starring Reese Witherspoon), will also be collaborating with Witherspoon for the production of the film. Apart from those two, Christine Vachon and Pamela Koffer will also be producing the film.
The story of the film is based on a script written by the late Nora Ephron. The film had to be delayed after Ephron left the planet for a better world in 2012.
The story is re-written by Doug Wright. Wright is an award-winning writer who bagged a Tony award and Pulitzer award in recognition of his work in “I Am My Own Wife.” He also bagged a Golden Globe nomination for his work in “Quills.”
Michelle Williams is a veteran actress, having been nominated for Academy Award four times in her career. She has recently starred in the FX-produced series “Fosse/Verdon.” She co-starred in the film alongside Sam Rockwell.
“Fosse/Verdon” was also a biographical drama based on the life of Bob Fosse and Gwen Verdon. Williams attained her Academy Award nominations in recognition of her work in the films such as “Manchester by the Sea,” “My Week With Marilyn,” “Brokeback Mountain,” and “Blue Valentine.”
“Brokeback Mountain” also starred late actor Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal.
Michelle Williams was also seen as “Anne Weying” in the 2018 superhero thriller film “Venom,” starring Tom Hardy in the leading role. Riz Ahmed played the role of the primary villain of the film “Carlton Drake” aka “Riot.”
Jenny Slate (Dora Skirth) and Reid Scott (Dr Dan Lewis) were a part of the supporting cast. The film was already renewed in 2019 itself and is currently in production. Currently, the film holds a release date of June the 15th, 2021.
After heavy speculations and prodding done by the fans, Michelle Williams finally revealed that she would be reprising her role in the second film.
The second film in the Venom franchise is titled “Venom: Let There Be Carnage,” and it will feature Woody Harrelson in the leading antagonist role of Carnage. The film is not a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and it will be produced by Sony.
It is likely Michelle Williams’ starrer “Fever” will go into production within the forthcoming few months.
