Kawaki’s Heroic Effort and Momoshiki’s Return

The latest chapter of Boruto has changed things drastically for Naruto and his village Konoha. Kawaki showed remarkable presence of mind and courage to outsmart Isshiki. He tricked Isshiki into using the Karma mark on the shadow clone, which led to his downfall. The sinister alien was finally defeated, and the Land of Fire people no longer needed to worry about the revival of God’s Tree.

Unfortunately, before they could start their celebrations, the titular hero attacks Sasuke and takes away his Rinnegan eye. It surprises Kawaki and Naruto, who are quick to realize that it is not Boruto but Momoshiki behind the attack. While the manga was focused on the struggle of the heroes to protect Kawaki from becoming Isshiki’s vessel, Boruto’s struggle with Momoshiki has also been a huge part of the story. Although Momoshiki was defeated in Boruto: Naruto the movie, he met the titular hero in the astral plane and implanted the mark. It was only a matter of time before Momoshiki made his return.

Boruto has been consistently tapping into that power. He has fought Kara’s terrorists and Isshiki with it, but it has made him mentally weak and prone to Momoshiki’s attack. The villain grew stronger bit by bit and eventually got control of Boruto. While Sasuke was talking to Naruto about his Baryone Mode, Boruto lept at him and stabbed him in the eye with a kunai. It was obvious that Momoshiki had taken over from his expressions. The villain admitted that he didn’t think that they would be able to defeat his fellow Otsutsuki.

Momoshiki has made it obvious that he aspires to world domination. Now that Isshiki is not in his way, he can easily do that. Since he has Hinata’s DNA and Naruto’s blood, he can now harness Kurama and Byakugan’s energy. Momoshiki has the perfect vessel for his aspirations, and that is what worries the heroes.

Sasuke has posed a threat for Momoshiki in the past, and the villain is well aware of it. So he is quick to get rid of Sasuke’s Rinnegan, knowing that it might trouble him if he fails to do so. Sasuke is significantly weakened by the attack, which takes away many techniques from him. Since Naruto is also injured and tired after a long fight with Isshiki, the only one left to fight Momoshiki is inexperienced Kawaki. The brawl with Isshiki has also drained Sasuke, and it would be tough for him to tap into his Sharingan. Ever since the Kaguya fight in which he lost his hand, Sasuke has been temporarily disabled. It is now high time that he somehow manages to make up for all the disadvantages because the heroes will need him desperately in their fight against Momoshiki.
