Is Sam A Bixby Replacement For Galaxy Phone: Here's The Explanation

Samsung’s virtual assistant, Sam, has gone viral, but Samsung did not create it as a replacement for Bixby or using on Galaxy smartphones.

Samsung’s virtual assistant, Sam, has almost taken the internet by storm earlier this week. But, now, it seems that Sam is not going to replace Bixby. Also, this virtual assistant is not coming to any Galaxy smartphones.

When the virtual assistant Sam’s images appeared on the internet, it responded immediately and began approving its design and look. However, at the time, it is still unclear if the virtual assistant images that appeared on the internet were authentic or not. Also, it is not clear whether the design was officially endorsed design of Samsung.

Bixby: Samsung’s Current Virtual Assistant

The current virtual assistant Of Samsung is Bixby. Users use Bixby to get answers to their questions and provide feedback. In addition, it is also used to manage and control the various smart home devices that are compatible with the Galaxy devices and the assistant.

However, when you compare it to the virtual assistant of Amazon’s Alexa, Apple’s Siri, and Google Assistant, it is not so popular. That’s why many people and industry experts began speculating that Samsung is looking to replace its current virtual assistant Bixby in the future.

Sam Is Not The Replacement For Bixby

It may happen that Samsung has designed Sam to replace Bixby. But, currently, it does not look so. Even though this virtual assistant is making headlines worldwide over the last few days, a few references oppose Bixby’s replacement.

One can see these references on some of the international websites of Samsung. These international websites also include Samsung Belgium. Such web pages provide a clearer picture of Sam and the company’s intention behind it. For example, Sam is only a Samsung chatbot though it is a virtual assistant.

Bixby & Sam Are Two different Assistants

Samsung has explained everything about Sam that includes its purpose. Also, it includes for what it is not designed. Most important, Samsung has made it clear that Sam is not going to replace Bixby. While explaining everything about Sam, the company highlights that Sam is the chatbot. It has been designed for the Samsung Service team. On the contrary, Bixby is installed on various consumer devices.

Sam has been designed to auto-respond to the queries and questions of the customers when attempting to communicate with the company through various online platforms. For example, it auto-respond to customers’ queries when asked through Facebook Messenger.

Furthermore, Sam may appear entirely different from that showcased in many images from this week. It will depend on the location of the customer. For example, it may look like the promotional video of the official Samsung Philippines customer service.

This last point may help people understand the recent Sam images that have gone viral on the internet. Samsung may want to design various designs of chatbots. To accomplish this, the company may have partnered with various companies. The primary purpose of designing such chatbots is to suit the demands of individual markets.

The recent renders of the virtual assistant, Sam, may be one such design. But, possibly, it may never make it to any promotional materials or videos. This is because the company has already taken down the original Sam post. Specifically, it references the previous versions of 2D and the latest re-imagination of this recent Sam design in the 3D version.

In other words, it can be said that Sam is not a new concept. The latest Sam images are the simple and straightforward concept to develop a 3D version of the current Sam chatbot. Regardless, whether the recent Sam design that has gone viral will be adopted by the company or not in the future, it does not seem that Sam will replace Bixby or end up on Galaxy smartphones as a virtual assistant.
