If you are a fan of Peaky Blinders, then this article is for you.
After the fifth season ended on a very tense cliffhanger, fans are now pretty impatiently waiting for the sixth season to arrive on BBC studios. However, despite the script and the cast already being worked upon, the creators have been unable to commence the principal photography of Season 6 because of the pandemic.
However, the question is whether the series is currently in production or not?
In the finishing minutes of the 5th season, fans saw the protagonist, aka Tommy Shelby (played by Cillian Murphy), holding a gun to his head, and the hearts of the viewers are now racing to find out what will happen to him. The fifth season concluded in August of 2019, and the global audience has been actively searching the internet since then to find out when the next season would arrive.
For now, according to the report published by express.co.uk, the construction of the filming set is nearing completion. The script has long been written, and everything was set for the show to begin its production in 2020, but as we know, it couldn’t happen.
In July of last year, a report published by Deadline theorized that the series could begin its production in the fall of 2020, but no official statement came, and as we know, the production didn’t start.
An advertisement for a casting call was put out in Manchester for the production commencement of a popular BBC series. The advertisement was put out by LB casting, and the line “a very popular BBC period drama” clearly gave away that it has been done for the Peaky Blinders.
The line “By the order of LB casting” was also quite funny (“By the order of Peaky Blinders”).
Furthermore, the production of Peaky Blinders has happened at Birmingham and Greater Manchester for the preceding seasons, so most likely than not, the casting call had been scheduled for the Peaky Blinders. The production base of the studios is also situated in West Gorton (Space Studios).
You would be glad to know that the applications for the casting call closed down on January the 3rd, 2021. So, it is imminent that the shooting is just about to get underway
However, you should know a caveat. A new strain of COVID 19 has forced the government to call upon another lockdown, so it is very likely that the production of Peaky Blinders will take a hit.
Paul Anderson, who plays the role of Arthur Shelby on the show, teased his followers on Instagram that they can expect season 6 to arrive soon. Anderson’s teaser sent fans into a state of frantic excitement.
He also expressed gratitude to his fans and promised that their wait would be worth it.
The actor also posted an illustration with a funny caption under the hashtag “Season 6 #comingfknsoon.”
Apart from Peaky Blinders, Cillian Murphy (along with Tom Hardy) is also famous for the Christopher Nolan films such as “Dunkirk,” “Inception,” and The Dark Knight trilogy.
