Apple to Introduce New Anti-stalking Feature.

Apple will soon be releasing an update for the operating system. The updated iOS 14.5 is under testing now, and the beta version is out for developers to “test run” it.

It is predicted that the new update will allow the “Find My” tracker app to notify you when someone is stalking you or another device is tracking you.

Apple launched two similar features in 2019: Find My iPhone and Find My iPhone and both the features were successful in their respective work. But the anti-stalking feature would be more convenient for iOS users. If the feature helps users get away from any shady situations, it will create a big impact on the market, and the sales of Apple might increase.

How will this feature help?

Many good trackers in the market, such as Samsung galaxy smart tag trackers and Airtags, keep records and pass the exact location when tagged to a person. It can be dangerous and life-threatening to anyone when the smart tag user is a criminal or a predator.

This safety feature notifies the user about the threat along with the position of the stalker. It allows the user to act proactively and take suitable steps to defend themselves or exit the scenario.

What is an AirTag?

It is a small Bluetooth device used in tracking lost items or can be put inside your children’s belongings to track and save them in the worst-case scenario. These devices can be used with wrong intentions, such as tracking or stalking someone without their permission.

How does it work?

According to the beta version, by default, the Item Safety Alerts are enabled. At a random crowded place, the unrecognized tracker (the one which is not paired with the user device) is sensed moving with the user. The user is notified by text messages, and the user will be able to locate the tracker.

Users are allowed to disable the anti-stalking feature. However, the user will receive a message stating, “the owner of an unknown item will be able to see your location and you will no longer be receiving text notifications when an unknown item is found moving with you.” Apple is concerned about its users and warns the users about the results of disabling the feature.

Recap

In a nutshell, the new iOS 14.5 update contains a lot to offer, but the anti-stalking feature seeks great attention from users. Privacy and security are the topmost priority for every person. The anti-stalking feature and Item Safety Alert feature allow the user to be sure of their immediate surroundings and threats if present. This feature locates the unpaired tracking devices and alerts the user about them.

Also, non iOS users might turn into iOS users as this feature is complimentary with the device, and the user does not have to pay for this service.
