When the payment processes and you see a message like Completed, in that case, the money is transferred to the other person’s account. If the money has been successfully transferred and sent to the other person’s account, there is no way to cancel the payment, but there are still few ways to get a refund.

Further, the payment cancelation method on PayPal is limited. Only in certain situations, you can claim your payment.

  • The recipient’s email address shouldn’t be registered with their PayPal account. When it gets registered, the money transfer gets completed.

  • The recipient’s email shouldn’t be verified. When the email gets verified, the transfer gets completed.

These conditions are excellent if you have sent money on the wrong email address and want to cancel the payment. If you send money on an incorrect email address, the money doesn’t transfer to the recipient account; instead, it stays suspended.

And the money will be returned to your account automatically after 30 days if you don’t cancel it. If the email address gets registered or verified, you will have to cancel it quickly before the payment gets claimed.

Here are the ways to cancel a pending payment on PayPal

  • Sign in to your PayPal account.

  • Located the Activity page.

  • Then select the All Transactions option. On this page, you will see your previous transactions. Here you can also locate the payment that is pending, and you need to cancel it.

  • A Cancel button will appear if the payment is incomplete or hasn’t been claimed yet. In that case, tap this button, then hit the Cancel Payment button on the following page, and you will get back the money in your account.

  • If there is no cancel button available, you will have to try something else.

Canceling recurring payments means canceling a payment that occurs through a subscription or any other service. If you have set up a subscription payment through PayPal, you can cancel it too.

You can cancel the payment in two different ways. The first is almost similar to the method mentioned above. The thing that differentiates them is the option to use a filter for Automatic Payments from the Activity page. The second is totally different. However, you have to always sign in to the website.

Moreover, after logging into your account, tap on the username from the top right of the screen. Now hit Account Settings and then choose the Money, Banks & Cards option. Now you arrive at Set Automatic payments. From here, locate for which business you have set up automatic payment and then hit Cancel.

Remember that you will need to cancel the recurring payment at least 24 hours before the deduction time.

What to do if you aren’t able to cancel a PayPal payment?

If you haven’t canceled the payment on time, don’t worry, you can still get your money through some options. If you know the recipient and have built trust with them, you can contact them and ask for a refund. The recipient can do it easily from the Activity page without paying any extra cost. If you have made the payment to a retailer, you can formally contact them through email and ask for a refund.
