A Dark Theme Feature for Microsoft Office Suite Is About to Get Introduced on Android

Microsoft Office is striving hard to make its services look more attractive and convenient. It has worked hard to introduce a “dark mode” feature to its set of applications available for desktops and laptops. And, now it seems that tech giant Microsoft is doing a similar thing for Android as well.

As per the statements made by Alessandro Paluzzi, who is known for reverse-engineering

applications to discover and explore new features possible with it, Microsoft is currently developing dark-mode features for Office suites and Office Hub on Android devices. Paluzzi has recently shared snapshots of what this feature might entail, which has given all the users, some sneak peeks of this latest feature and how it would look on their screen.

After installing the updates, a user can choose between different brightness options and opt between the Dark, Light, and default option.

Alessandro Paluzzi has recently tweeted about this feature. He has shared with his followers that Microsoft is currently building something exciting for Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Microsoft Excel on Android devices.

Alessandro Paluzzi has clarified a caveat that though we see a white blank document in the snapshots released by him, everything could get altered once the updates get released.

It is imperative to understand that Microsoft has already released a dark-theme feature to some of its applications that run on Android devices such as Outlook, OneDrive, and a few others. So, it was expected that Microsoft would introduce such a feature for some of its ubiquitous applications such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Microsoft Excel.

The added feature will significantly help students and professionals who work at night and the readers who might choose to work on their desktops but prefer to review their work on small devices.

One thing that is not certain is the date on which the updates will be revealed. No one knows for sure, but when updates reach the screens of Android users, they will be able to open Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Microsoft Excel on their devices in the dark-mode.

For some reason, if you do not prefer to use Microsoft Office (neither Office 365 nor the Office 2019), you can always use Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Google Slides, which are appropriate substitutes for basic Microsoft applications if not better. Google has recently revealed a dark mode feature for the three applications, making it look even more attractive and convenient for the user.

As it has been disclosed in several blogs, the dark-theme feature of the Google productivity applications can be applied only to the front page and the working editing view.

If you are an active user of Google productivity tools, you would know that the “dark-theme” feature issued by Google can be explored in Google docs and Google Sheets, and Google Slides was already embedded with changing background hues.

The “dark-theme” or the “dark-mode” we speak about is a standard “dark-gray” color background that Google generally uses, and all the applications of Google also come with their respective characteristic colors as well.

The updates are expected to arrive by this year; however, the dates have not been revealed.
